For all the guyinops out there that are on their computer that like to call professional athletes soft this ones for you...I just watched Kaleta get punched repeatedly in the face and "turn the other cheek" and get us a 5 minute major that vanek just scored on. Call out Kaleta all you want about not fighting (as if youve ever actually been in a fight or wouldnt get pummeled by him) but his instigating ability and smart physical play just gave us the lead and gets us a powerplay each game. Ive always commented on how valuable that is and calling him soft is a joke. YOU AINT NOTHING because you can sit behind a computer as a fat old guy and call someone soft!! Kaleta is THE MAN for not fighting and giving us countless PP oppurtunities. A FIVE MINUTE MAJOR IN A TIED GAME AGAINST THE RANGERS!!! THANK YOU!

Kaleta drawing a 5min power play was the turning point in the game yesterday. It seems like every game he draws at least 1 power play. He did it in the first game and second I believe as well. What I like about him is he does it by getting under the skin of players with clean hitting (unlike chris neil who is a dirty player) and is the best hitter on the team. He is also skating better and not hitting himself out of the play like he did when he first came up last year. A gritty player like him is one small piece of building a Stanley cup team. Henry has stated multiple times that Kaleta is useless. So far you are proved wrong. I know it is early in the season and I still think they need more leadership and a star D-man to be a legitimate cup contender but you can not deny the need for a small piece like Kaleta is needed. |

I agree that was a smart move but i think it was more that he had no clue to what was going on. He got hit so fast and for no reason that he was kinda just aww struck. But no the less great move and great game.

What are all you Sabres fan smoking... Kaleta is a nice player but he is a dime a dozen in the NHL.
The difference between him and a guy like Darcy Tucker or even Sean Avery is that they actually play a regular shift, and can put the puck in the net. Kaleta is and never will be anything more than a role player, who can bang the body cause he really doesnt really have any other hockey skills.
If he were on any other team and pulled a stunt like he did against Mara and the Rangers, Sabres fans would be on her complaining about how he lacks class, how it was cheap what he did and how the next time your team plays him, someone should get pay back for him hiding from the rough action.

What is with people not reading the posts theyre commenting on. Who actually believes Kaleta will ever be anything but a 4th liner and 3rd liner if theres alot of injuries. YOUR MISSING THE POINT. How many 4th liners draw that many penalties AND hit.....CLEANLY. People bad mouth Kaleta for his skills....THATS NOT WHY HES OUT THERE. He is a valuable asset and brings another dimension to the sabres END OF STORY

I never said Kaleta will be anything more than a 4th maybe 3rd liner but every team needs or wishes they had a player like him on those lines, where his job is to bang the body and get under the skin of the other team. Tonight he draws another powerplay in which the sabres score. You try to compare him to Neil (1.1m) and Avery (3.8m)…look in parentheses at how much they make and they should be able to play any shift at that money compared to Kaleta’s (0.475m). I’ll take his dime over a dozen any day |

What do you know? Kaleta draws ANOTHER 4 minute MAJOR against the canucks. AND WE SCORE!!! THEN against the thrashers he gets a veteran like matthieu schneider to take a DUMB penalty because of his pestering....which is always clean. If theres any arguement Kaleta shouldnt be on the roster full time for the rest of the regular season its probably coming from an idiot.

Hank it's even worse than that, unbekownst, NATURALLY to the myopic Euphorian Nation, Kaleta, who can't skate, can't shoot, can't pass and CERTAINLY can't score, mugged Mara of the Rangers last year broke 2 teeth and fractured his jaw.
Last week Kaleta tried to mug Mara again and was routinely and embarrasingly beat down again.
Evn Rob Ray said eventually Patty will have to fight if he's to be taken seriously.

I guess getting power plays for your team that set up goals is a bad thing in this league huh..? He may not be the biggest guy out there and may get his a@# whooped a bunch of times. But id rather have him out there then peters. what does peters do, throw a few horrible punches, drag the guy to the ground and get a penalty. I think id rather have someone whos gonna throw his weight into someone and cause them to retaliate so we get a power play |

There is no talking to someone like Guy....A nothing of a player? Peters is a nothing of a player. Kaleta gets us a powerplay a game....atleast. Yet hes worthless and "cheap walmart." Guy doesnt understand hockey or basic english its that simple. You cant argue logic with henry either. No one ever said he could skate or pass well but to deny his value is SOOOOOOOOO sad.....Guy and Henry always say we need more grit then theres kaleta who leads the team in hits and gets up PP oppurtunities and because theyre the all knowing in hockey hes not worth the time because hes a bad skater.....has to pick up speed somehow to deliver all those hits and get under all those skins.....Simple logic is hes worth the time even though he doesnt produce on offense. ITS VERY SIMPLE LOGIC THAT GUY AND HENRY CANT GRASP.

Garrette is lost in outer space again. Probably smoking some junk as usual. Kaleta is nutttin but a hometown boy who is the hometown draw. He couldn't even make a ECHL team. This guy stinks, just like Garrette's postings. KALETA IS A BUM!

Garrett, Sean, etc., what you guys have to learn is that Henry, Guy, LDawg, et al., are Arguers of Convenience. They have no semblance of consistency throughout their arguments. If you're talking about Derek Roy, they're going to argue that he's too soft and doesn't add enough grit. When talking about Kaleta, they're going to argue that he doesn't bring enough creativity, scoring or skating. They purposely avoid the big picture which would show them that different guys fill different roles, instead looking at each player in a vaccuum and identifying the things that those players don't do (things that just aren't their roles).
They're angry people. I don't think that they hate the Buffalo teams, either. I think what drives them crazy are the fans that have hope and get excited about their teams. It drives them nuts.
In other news, LDawg's stone-cold lock of the week is that both John McCain and Barack Obama are both going to drop out of the presidential race. SMOKE IT!!
